El presupuesto

Entre escribir el poema
o terminar el presupuesto,
escogí terminar el presupuesto.
Sumé las sumas.
Dividí las divisiones.
Asigné partes, fondos,
creé estructuras de pago,
hice en fin mi labor.
Ya me puedo ir
feliz a la cama
a crear poemas

Watching Rome burn

Where are the nymphs, they asked?
Where’s desire?
Where’s the number that creates the shapes
That define our illusions?
I’m not the one that creates beautiful similes.
I won’t give you songs to dance to.
I won’t give you catchy phrases, rhythms of emptiness.
See, I’m not the one you’re looking for.
I’m dry and dead and destroyed.
I’m the one that owns the guitar with no strings.
I sit in the corner and watch Rome burn.
And I burn with it.

This is man and that is god

Skull and spit, shadow of a god that listens.
This is a dead valley, echoes of fires, echoes of swords,
Echoes of time, laughter that turned into fear.
Voluminous dissertations on the invisibility of desire.
This we worship.
Inconclusible evidence of faith, roots and verbs,
As inconclusible as everything we touch,
Hand of man, hand of death, hand that moves
Without enlightenment.
This is man and that is god.
This is man and that is god.

Alguna puerta abrirá la otra puerta

Alguna puerta abrirá la otra puerta.
Tiempo para soñar, para abrir ventanas.
Todo el tiempo es tuyo,
incluso aquel tiempo que niegas.
Dios lo dijo: no me escuches a través
de simples intermediarios.
La sombra genera sus luces.
Un paso y ya estamos.
No son versos para enternecer oyentes.
Asco que me da todo eso.
Un flanco. Y el enemigo entra.
Ayer creí en crisantemos.
Palabra horrible.
Poesía del tiento y la agonía.
Señor, sólo escucho.
Tus olas dictan la armonía.

Tea leaves and desire

Tea leaves and desire.
I drink till I see it all so clearly.
Tea leaves and desire.
You speak and your mouth
Says the things I wrote.
You know my script.
You know my script.
You know my script.
Did you write the script
I wrote?
Tongue and kiss and desire.
Linguistic definitions
Of the intangible.
I’m sure you wrote the
Script I wrote.

You know how I sang, my friend

This is what I said, my friend,
This is what I said.
Words, words, words.
This is what I wrote, my friend.
My moment in time.
My brief eternity.
This is what I lived, my friend.
And I said what I said.
You know I did.
You know I did.
My place in history
Is obscurity.
My place in love
Is intensity.
You know how much I’ve loved,
My friend, you know.
My words are sounds
And fury and desire.
You know how I sang, my friend,
Blood muffling the sounds.
You know how I sang, my friend.
You know how I sang, my friend.

Tú, fuego, tú.

La sangre, fuego tú,
tú sexo, tú humedad,
y yo sed.
Tú humedad, y
yo sed.
Luz que me das.
Tú, fuego, tú.
Luz que me das.
Roce de las imágenes,
roce de los reflejos.
Fuego que eres tú,
y yo tanto deseo.
Fuego tú.
Jugar con tus pezones.
Fuego tú, y yo sed.

Imitando a Bukowski (II)

Her name is Jennifer
And I have seen her naked
A couple of times.
She loves to drink
And make love.
She is a liberal
(you gotta love those liberal women)
and talks to me about the environment
and global warming.
Sexy slut with a cause.
I love that.

Las manos, y un apetito, un deseo

Las manos, y un apetito,
un deseo. Sudor.
Canciones.
Una trampa de la soledad.
Las manos, y un apetito.
Un cuerpo desnudo.
Humedad en el desierto.
Alguien sabe que escribo estos
versos.
Temblor de los cuerpos.
Alguien sabe y nadie más.
Las manos, y un apetito.
Alguien sabe que escribo estos
versos.

cuchillo y naipes,
agua que cae,
una era que era,
un tiempo de gritos y sombras,
una voz que construye un vacío,
la fatiga de un eco.
Verso el tuyo, y sombra.
La música pudiera salvarnos,
Ahora y en la hora de nuestra
muerte eterna.
Ahora y en la hora de nuestra
muerte eterna.
Verso el tuyo, y sombra.

Us, sinners

There will be a moment.
There will be a sound.
There will be a reason.
Maybe not.
We are sinners.
We are all sinners.
Sinners without repent.
We are closer to God.
We are getting there,
To that kingdom.
Horses, water, and a rock,
A rock, horses, and water.
We are getting nearer.
Us, sinners.

Poética

¿Qué puede hacer una simple palabra
en este mudo de locos?
¿Saltar?

Imitando a Bukowski

IMITANDO A BUKOWSKI

She opened her legs and looked at me.
She was high. She was in the clouds.
I was drunk. I was down. I was dirty.
She waved at me. I waved back.
I thought she was a whore.
But I was wrong. She was just high
And wanted me that night.
